Over the past couple of weeks, I have had the opportunity to participate in this year’s BDCC Fall Advocacy Days. This was a year of firsts for me, including speaking on a panel and advocating on my own for the first time.
One memorable moment for me was when I was asked to speak about my advocacy story in a panel, in the weeks leading up to Fall Advocacy Days. This was my first panel, and I was honored to answer questions about something I am genuinely passionate about. This year was also my first time leading a meeting independently. Unfortunately, the other constituent for my county had to drop out, and I had to lead the meeting alone. It was nerve-wracking at first, but once I found my footing, it was the best meeting I’ve ever had. The staffer was incredible, and we ended up talking for around thirty minutes. It felt amazing to know that my assemblymember would hear my story and these issues that are so important to me.
Participating in these events is incredibly rewarding and something I look forward to doing every year.
